lyrics..

I’m sorry if I gaze a little too long
But their eyes didn’t see into me
Like yours do
I’m sorry if I hang on your words too long
But their words didn’t build my best me
Like yours do
I’m sorry if I wince when you touch my cheek
But their hands didn’t feel kind and sweet
Like yours do

Please don’t change anything about you
I love you exactly as you are
I can’t fault yesterday, it led here
To find truth, dance with you, first name you

I’m happy to have found light after darkness
Cuz their dreams suffer from blurred vision
Like yours don’t
I’m happy to have heard music now, not noise
Cuz their notes sounded flat and too sharp
Like yours don’t
I’m happy to have felt once-clipped wings soar high
Cuz their goals sought for my crash and burn
Like yours don’t

Please don’t change anything about you
I love you exactly as you are
I can’t fault yesterday, it led here
To find truth, dance with you, first name you

Run away
Run to you
A new day
A new view
Here to stay
Here with you

Take my hand, I’m ready for what lies next here
Cuz your eyes always see into me
Like yours do
Dream with me, I’m ready for no guilt or fear
Cuz your words always build my best me
Like yours do
Hold me close, I’m ready for next steps my dear
Cuz your hands always feel kind and sweet
Like yours do

Please don’t change anything about you
I love you exactly as you are
I can’t fault yesterday, it led here
To find truth, dance with you, first name you

production notes..

From Michael

Hi! Wanting the music to metaphorize the story in the lyrics, went with distorted and muddy lows, mids that seek to find harmony and swell, and crisp highs. I think my love for blending synthesized instruments with real instruments is starting to find a voice in this track! Appreciate you listening, and hope you enjoy. ~m

Stardate 2026-04-26: Dear Like Yours Do, I know I'm taking some heat on this one, technically, but and I promise to not try to “fix” you. If I were to attempt to do that, I'm not hearing the lyrics you. ~m

Stardate 2026-05-03: The lyrics in this album are intentionally unimposing: Sex- and gender-specific pronouns are never used, and neither are belief-specific names for supreme beings, so that we can share stories that a listener may experience from their personal perspective - not ours. The same is true for the film's imagery, soundscape, and dialogue. ~m
